Maple syrup is less processed than other added sugars, which makes them a healthy alternative to traditional sugar. Commonly used with waffles, pancakes, and even French toast, Maple syrup offers a sweet, delicious taste that makes it great for breakfast or snacks. But did you know that maple can also add to the taste of blueberries?

Maple Blueberry Syrup

Ingredients:

  • A third cup of maple syrup
  • A quarter cup of blueberries
  • A quarter teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions:

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the maple syrup and blueberries. As the syrup heats up, it will start to bubble. Allow 5-6 minutes for the syrup to boil, stirring periodically.
  • Remove the pot from the heat after 5-6 minutes and add the vanilla extract. Use a fork to crush blueberries. It isn’t required for the mixture to be completely smooth; it will have a deep purple hue.
  • The syrup should be kept refrigerated.
