Hello Mission Pie friends,

We will be closed for some maintenance and deep cleaning beginning Monday January 22 and reopening on Saturday February 10. That’s a long time and I already miss you and regret upsetting your wonderful routines. We are refinishing the kitchen and front floors and that requires us to move all equipment and furniture around and we have ourselves on as tight a schedule as we dare.

For those who celebrate the 100s of National ___ Days, we apologize that we will be closed on National Pie Day (Tuesday Jan 23.) You will be able to find lovely pies of all stripes and types at Noe Valley Bakery, Three Babes Bakeshop, Butter Love Bakeshop. Maybe you will stop by this weekend for some pie dough to make a pie!

Incidentally, National Pie Day was created by the American Pie Council in 1986 to commemorate Crisco’s 75th anniversary of “serving foods to families everywhere”. Perhaps because we make our dough without hydrogenated shortening and with butter or maybe because we admire the playful mathematicians at the Exploratorium and math teachers everywhere, we have found more community enthusiasm around Pi Day on 3.14 (get it?) This year Pi Day will fall on a Wednesday and which we are already getting excited about. Our online store will open for Pi Day orders during the time we are closed, so you know we won’t be slacking.

Come by this weekend to stock up on Equator Coffee beans and to grab some pot pies to put in the freezer to lessen the pie-lessness.
