Fresh Vegetables from the Farm to your Kitchen

Have you been wanting to join a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program with a local farm?

This year, we will serve as a pick-up site for Blue House Farm CSA members. That means that each Thursday, 40 people in San Francisco will pick up a box of delicious, organic produce grown and just harvested in Pescadero, California. In addition to the delights of high quality seasonal produce, CSA members feel gratified by being an essential part of the economy of the farm they support. By joining with Blue House farmers, Ryan Casey and Ned Conwell, CSA members are developing a regional food supply and strong local economy, maintaining a sense of community, encouraging land stewardship, and honoring the direct link between the production and consumption of food. Sign-up details are on the Blue House website.

We are delighted to support Blue House Farm by being a drop site for their San Francisco CSA members. It’s a treat to see folks discovering the bounty of their boxes each week. We admire Ned and Ryan’s skill and dedication as part of a new generation of farmers, and we’re really enthusiastic about the quality of their produce, which we’ve included in both our sweet and savory offerings, and their beautiful flowers, which graced Mission Pie through last Spring and Summer. Mission Pie is also forging a deeper relationship with Blue House based on similar values to CSA, with upfront investment in a 2011 rhubarb crop. Thank you, Ned and Ryan, for being such fine farmers and courageous entrepreneurial collaborators!
